Mukesh Thapa is a self-made artist and painter with more than three decades of experience. In these years, he has made more than 600 paintings which are now housed at a state of the art gallery in the beautiful Himalayan city of Dharamshala, India.
His speciality lies in oil paintings across various genres using this method, including portrait, land and seascapes, contemporary, architecture and modern art.
He has had a passion for painting since childhood and decided to pursue a career as an artist based on the appreciation he started getting for his work earlier on. Lacking any godfather or mentor, he put in extensive amount of hours to improve his skills and has gone on to win 23 international awards over the course of his career.
Mukesh worked for 6 years to complete a self portrait created using a single strand of hair for which he holds a world record for this intricate given place in 9 record books including Limca & India book of records. His record holding work was featured on a History TV show called "OMG Ye Mera India" for 6 years in a row.
Recently, he was honoured with the Hamro Gaurav Samman by respected yoga guru Shri Ramdev Baba ji and respected Acharya Shri Balkrishna ji, founder of Patanjali, in a program organized by Hamro Swabhiman sanstha at Siri Fort Auditorium, Delhi.
He has participated in group art exhibitions with stalwarts including M.F. Hussain, S.H. Raza, Baljeet Chadda & Satish Gujral. Many renowned personalities including former Prime Minister Sh. Manmohan Singh, former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Late Sh. Virbhadra Singh, legendary actors Amitabh Bacchan & Salman Khan have appreciated his work.
